On the 7th November 2019 the Intendant General for the Division of East Anglia, R.Ill.Kt. Dr. John Elmore, had the privilege of presenting a cheque for £2500, from the Grand Sovereign’s Care for Children Fund, to the Head Teacher, Mr. Fyfe Johnston, of the Clare School in Norwich for their hydrotherapy pool project. The Intendant General was very pleased to be accompanied by Ill.Kt. Stephen Newman, Divisional Recorder, and Ill.Kt. David Long, Deputy Divisional Marshal. They were joined by two of the Charity’s Trustees - Mr. Gavin Thorpe and Mr. Simon Cox.
The Clare School is a Specialist ‘Physical and Sensory’ Complex Needs School. It is a mixed, day Foundation School for pupils from 3 to 19 years of age, with physical and / or sensory needs. Many pupils also have complex medical and learning difficulties. There are currently 96 pupils each with their own personal learning and needs programme.
The visit to the school included a tour of the school facilities, and provided the opportunity to meet some of the very special staff and pupils. It was a privilege to be able to observe the outstanding and dedicated work of the school staff doing their best to ensure that every student, whatever the student’s disability, achieves their potential under very difficult and demanding circumstances.
